Safeguarding
At Holsworthy Community College, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. The safety, security, welfare, and wellbeing of our students are our top priorities. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to support every young person in a range of ways, ensuring that all students feel safe, valued, and cared for.
Supporting Young People
Adolescence can be a challenging time as children grow and develop. We believe that making mistakes is a natural and important part of learning. Our role as parents, carers, and educators is to help young people learn from those experiences and grow stronger because of them.
Tutor time plays a key role in this. It gives skilled staff the opportunity to help students reflect on their choices, make positive decisions, and recognise when they might need extra support — whether that’s with friendships, academic challenges, or issues outside of school.
Pupil Coaches
Our Pupil Coaches are an important part of our pastoral care. They:
-
Mediate friendship issues
-
Help overcome barriers to learning
-
Offer a listening ear and trusted support
-
Advocate for students when things feel difficult
Students can speak to a Pupil Coach at break or lunch, or request support through their class teacher. Pupil Coaches also help young people build resilience and confidence — essential skills for life.
Mental Health and Wellbeing
Many young people experience challenges with their mental health — and that’s okay. We have systems in place to offer support without stigma, and we can connect families with external agencies when extra help is needed.
If you’re worried about your child’s mental health or wellbeing, please reach out to us. You can also find excellent advice and resources on the Young Minds website:Young Minds
